Unfortunately it is a fact that rust occurs in all central heating systems and especially in older systems builds up over the years producing a black (iron oxide) sludge and, in hard water areas, lime scale builds up in combination boilers just like in your kettle causing the following problems
Then it sounds like your central heating is due for a good flushing out and chemical water treatment to remove all the debris and sludge and restore proper circulation to the system.
The only way to do this properly is by power flushing your central heating system which our engineers at Plumbflow Ltd can do for you using market leading equipment.
What is Power Flushing? The removal of sludge, rust, scale and other debris from heating system using water at high velocity combined with chemical agents (This uses high velocity and not high pressure, so it cannot damage your system any more than the rust already has!).
The benefits of getting Plumbflow Ltd to carry out a Central Heating Power Flush are as follows:
1. Usually a quieter boiler results from the removal of lime scale build up on the heat exchanger commonly known as ‘Kettling’
2. You get Hotter Radiators and a quicker warm up from the removal of Black Sludge, Magnetite, cold spots and Hydrogen gas build up produced by corrosion within the system. (Tip – If you have to frequently bleed radiators then your system is probably corroding badly, get professional help from Plumbflow Ltd immediately).
3. Your system will last longer, central heating pumps will last longer and radiators will have an extended life if there is no corrosion present and they have been treated with suitable corrosion inhibitors.
4. You should get lower fuel bills due to a more efficient system, since it costs more to heat solid magnetite than it does water! It is estimated that up to 25% saving can be made on your fuel bills. Additionally if your boiler is old it may only be 65% efficient and modern boilers are normally well over 90% efficient, Plumbflow Ltd recommend and can advise on boilers from established companies like Vaillant and Baxi Group.
5. The Benchmark Code of Practice, Building Regulations Part L and BS 7953
States that when installing new boilers on old or new installations the system should be adequately flushed before commissioning and a Central Heating Power Flush is by far the best way to achieve this. (A lot of Plumbers will not do this when installing a new boiler which can lead to breakdowns and faults that are not the boiler manufacturers fault and hence you may have warranty issues).
6. Plumbflow Ltd undertake to provide a safer environment when under taking central heating system cleaning, using a self contained unit, no taking radiators of the wall and struggling to carry them outside without getting get black sludge on carpets etc. The correct method of cleaning and inhibiting various types of Central Heating Systems using a Central Heating Power Flush from Plumbflow Ltd will ensure satisfaction to the customer.
Having your Central Heating System Power Flushed by a qualified operator will give you peace of mind for years to come
Additionally once Plumbflow Ltd have carried out your Central Heating Power Flush, we recommend that you back this up by getting us to fit a Hydrocyclonic and magnetic in-line filter system which helps my collecting contaminates before they enter your boiler and cause problems. This can be fitted at a very reasonable cost.
